She would want to read line by line

Love is a promise I will keep
Like a prayer before I go to sleep
And I will dream that she has slept
And dried the tears the night has wept

But in the naked light of day
She’s a beautiful reminder
Of all the letters kept, but left unopened
Still trying to find her

Unfinished symphony of words
It’s so hard to give away what you’ve sold
And I’ve already begun to count the days
Left to describe her.

So as the ink presses to the page
And time replaces innocence with age
I’ll soon sign off and be on my way
And know she will know this all one day
